2022 Tour of Remodeled Homes: Shelburne renovated farmhouse

Gerald and Dorie Shelburne have been living in the Fern Creek subdivision dubbed Minor Spring Farm when they begun thinking about downsizing.

“The young ones moved out, and we were wanting at condos downtown so we could walk (just about everywhere),” Dorie told The Courier Journal. On the other hand, she said all the city areas created her come to feel “a little bit claustrophobic.”

A person day, as she was driving down a street in close proximity to their previous household, she observed a signal that stated, “Horse Barn” and determined to look at it out.

“When I came up the hill,” she recalled, “the canopy of trees (and almost everything gave) me (a great) feeling. I (imagined) it was just so stunning.”

Dorie claims that at the time she and Gerald obtained a likelihood to perspective the home with each other, what they truly fell in like with was the land — all 20 acres.

“To be honest, we purchased it for our pet dog,” she included with a giggle.

Apart from the primary studs and flooring, the Shelburne residence is all new. They enlisted the assist of Twin Spires Transforming to make an open house that would be excellent for entertaining and excellent for viewing the splendor of the outside from within any time of the calendar year.

The initial section of the residence, Dorie defined, had two bedrooms, one particular lavatory, the dwelling room, eating place, and kitchen area all crammed into a 1,000-square-foot house.
