Nomita Joshi-Gupta’s reverent blend of plum taffetas, beaded metallic trims and orange velvets

Nomita Joshi-Gupta is influenced by her heritage. The designer—who was born in Bangalore, India, and is now based in New Orleans—likes to combine aesthetic elements from each her indigenous metropolis and hometown when crafting her eclectic, modern-day interiors.

Acquire, for occasion, her recent mood board. Drawing from a person of her preferred oil paintings from the 1900s—“Woman Keeping a Fruit” by artist Raja Ravi Varma—Joshi-Gupta created the scheme with royalty in head. “The temper is just one of a bedroom in a royal looking lodge,” she tells Enterprise of Residence. “Indian royals had palatial forest outposts the place each princes and princesses hunted match throughout year, and these places have been outfitted to resemble their individual palaces—like a residence away from home.”
