LC Master Gardener Association Presents its Annual Spring Gardening Series

The Lafayette County Master Gardener Association’s annual spring gardening lecture sequence will just take place in March.

Every single session will be close to 1-hour extended and all will be held in the Dotsy A. Fitts Auditorium in the Lafayette County and Oxford Public Library at midday each thirty day period.

Dr. Jason Hoeksema

The 1st lecture will be at noon on March 9 with Dr. Jason Hoeksema, professor of biology at the College of Mississippi as the visitor lecturer. Hoeksema will present a chat on “Mushrooms and Other Fungi.”

This speak will be beneficial to anyone fascinated in determining mushrooms in the wild or escalating them at house.

At UM, Hoeksema teaches classes in Mycology, Ornithology Coevolution, Biometry and Meta-Investigation. He holds a Ph.D. in Ecology from the College of California, Davis. His exploration focuses on the ecological, evolutionary, and ecosystem repercussions of interactions between species, in particular involving plants, mycorrhizal fungi, and migratory birds.

Dr. Brice Noonan

On April 13, the speaker will be Dr. Brice Noonan, an Affiliate Professor of Biology at the University of Mississippi. His presentation is entitled “Your Massive Backyard … And All Its Amazing Reptiles and Amphibians.” If you have questions about what variety of snakes and amphibians may well be inhabiting your backyard garden, you won’t want to skip this lecture.

Noonan holds a Ph.D. in Quantitative Biology from the College of Texas at Arlington. At UM, Noonan teaches classes in Evolution, Genetics, Herpetology, Biology of Invasive Species, Biology of the Caribbean and Island Biogeography at the undergraduate amount. At the graduate amount, he teaches classes in Molecular Systematics, Phylogenetic Systematics, and Phylogeography.

The last presentation will be on Might 11 with guest speaker Jeff McManus, Director of Landscape Expert services at the College of Mississippi considering that 2000.
