Interior design student shares the six things that instantly cheapen your home
If you’re keen to make a good impression on guests who visit your home, an interior design expert has revealed the decor faux pas that are making your surroundings look cheap.
Krishnan Rajaratnam, 20, who studies Interior Architecture & Design at Coventry University, shared his clever tips in a viral video on TikTok where he’s racked up 32,000 followers with his interior design tips.
His latest videos reveal the looks that are making your home seem ‘cheap’, including short curtains, patterned duvet covers and visible LED lights.
The video racked up over 3,300,000 views and nearly 250,000 likes on his interior TikTok page @interiorbykrish.

Krishnan advised against sticking LED strip lights on the ceiling if you want to create a luxurious-feeling room.
Another helpful tip was to invest in larger pieces of artwork because smaller photos don’t properly fill up the space on your walls.
Another mistake that many people are guilty of is leaving wires exposed underneath their TVs. Failing to hide these away can make a room look messy.
The fourth tip is an easy every day task but can make all the difference – to get rid of creased bedsheets.

While another said: ‘Cheap? Do you mean “not decorated to please others”.
Luckily a few followers jumped to Krishnan’s defence and said they enjoyed the tips.
