Inside Our Fifth Annual Whole Home in Atlanta
For our fifth annual Whole Home project, we tried something new: Instead of building a house from the ground up, we found an historic Atlanta home in need of some TLC. Then, we asked a team of forward-thinking designers to bring it back to its former glory with modern family living in mind.
The first step for our project, set atop a lush tree-filled lot in the Buckhead area of Atlanta, was partnering with Ladisic Fine Homes and architectural firm Pak Heydt & Associates to breathe new life into the historic Chastain Park Tudor. Renovating an existing property for our annual Whole Home build felt especially meaningful in today’s limited housing market, where buyers are choosing location over perhaps their first choice home.
Twelve acclaimed interior designers took part in the project: Ariene Bethea, Ashley Gilbreath, Brynn Olson, DuVäl Reynolds, Jonathan Savage, Keia McSwain, Leanne Ford, Lisa Adams, Mark Williams, Niki Papadopoulos, Whittney Parkinson, and Zoë Feldman. With a variety of design styles and concepts, the group completely reinvigorated the home’s 11,000 square feet—both indoors and out—to create areas dedicated to living better at home: from designated work spaces to rooms that are all about kicking your feet up, all on display in House Beautiful’s Renovation Issue, on newsstands December 6th—and on housebeautiful.com right now. Open to the public between December 3rd and December 17th on select days. Buy your tickets here.

Kimberly + Cameron Interiors, Denver, CO
Keia McSwain designs the family’s media room with game space for reconnecting with each other and plush seating for streaming movies on the big screen well into the evening hours. It’s built for every age group in the house, with a wet bar for age appropriate cocktail hours and a microwave for keeping the popcorn popping.
Ashley Gilbreath Interior Design, Montgomery, AL
In a special partnership with retail brand Frontgate, Ashley Gilbreath brings her Southern sensibility to the expansive outdoor spaces: a covered porch, custom pool with spa jacuzzi, intimate fire pit and a well-appointed outdoor kitchen.
