$2 million King William home on the market

A 1904 Edwardian house in King William with landscaping done by the former president of the San Antonio Botanical Garden’s board of directors has hit the market for $2 million.

The 2,749-square-foot home at 302 King William has four bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, and sits along San Antonio’s annual King William Fair Parade in a neighborhood full of homes on the National Register of Historic Places. It’s also a block from the River Walk.

A pathway leads from the sidewalk to the wraparound porch. Inside is “opulence & warmth” and ornate details from “top to bottom,” Meghan Pelley, a real estate agent with All City Real Estate Ltd., wrote on the listing. That includes moldings, lancet windows, wood floors, Roman columns, French doors and antique paneling.

There is also a screen porch with doors that open to the backyard. The landscaping in the backyard and in the front yard was done by John S. Troy, the former president of the San Antonio Botanical Gardens.

Troy served on the board of the San Antonio Botanical Garden for nearly three decades before serving as president from 2016-19. He oversaw the garden’s expansion plans.

He began designing landscaping for local residents in 1981, helping people “turn their outdoor spaces into stunning natural landscapes,” according to a 2016 blog post on the Garden Conservancy’s website.
